INTELLECT
SO
WHAT'S ALL THE FUSS ABOUT
These are my
initial impressions and will be updated soon. (September 2005)
IB3600 (SC-3600)
The 3600's met their
reputation of being better than GP3700 for voltage (translates to punch) with
good capacity.
These cells are very
similar in size to GP3300's (slightly smaller diameter) but are 1-2 grams heavier.
IB3800 (SC-3800)
The 3800's have phenomenal voltages much bigger than any
cells I have measured before.
These cells are the
same size and weight as GP3700's. (slightly heavier on average).
My Sons comments
He wants to replace
all but the best GP3700's in his pit box.
The 3600's are
great, as good as the GP3700's, the 3800's are immense at first, but seem
to loose their incredible punch after a few laps, falling back to GP3700
performance (or did he just get used to all that punch).
The Customers
A customer at my
local club (Bury St Edmunds) (who has all the test gear, and some expensive
matched cells) bought a set of IB3600 for carpet / stock racing, his comment
"some of the best cells he's ever seen on a bench test, but the proof is in
the racing" .
He could not get the
pack fully charged in time for the 1st run, but used them 3/4 charged, the smile on
his face after the race told the story, before he said "mega
cells"...... In fact he was so enthusiastic other people started asking
what I was paying him!
Another customer at
Peterborough Club running Brush-less (I thought he said 8 Turn, does that make sense
(I don't used brush-less)) modified touring car on carpet.
He borrowed a set of
IB3800 charged the day before and just re-peaked, he liked them enough to buy a
set of 3800's on the spot, and build and charge them for his final.
Very Very fast
car, unbelievably good clean driver, I got a big smile and a thumbs up after the
race.
He bought another
set of 3800 cells before he left the meeting. His enthusiasm was infectious and
several others bought both 3800's and 3600's having been impressed by his
performance.
MATCHING
The cells are not
matched... I weigh
the cells to 0.1 gram tolerance and select them in sets of the same weight, this
is not fool proof but gives cells of comparable capacity.
When you get the
cells they will have a number on the button, i.e. 6.4, the cells are 66.4 grams
in weight (i.e. add 60). If you want light or heavy let me know by
email, heavier = a little more capacity.
